Ironman, Holy Crap

So today was the KickOff meeting to Ironman training and all I have to say is Holy Shit!! I still have so much shit to either register, buy, or sign up for it's a little overwhelming.

  1. Need to register for Galveston Half Iron - $190
  2. Need to buy wetsuit - $150
  3. Optional Computrainer sessions - $200
  4. Bike transport - $275 (What the f&*%???)
  5. New bike - $2,000 - $4,000 - Boyfriend is totally helping with this and anyone that's seen my bike will understand why I need a new one. I'm still not 100% about spending this kind of money on something I hate. I'd rather buy a $100 pair of running shoes. We'll see :)
  6. Airline ticket - $500
  7. House rental - $400

What the freak, this is expensive. This doesn't include the other smaller races that I'll need to do in the following 6 months, or the Gu's, recovery drinks, other nutrition race specific crap I'll need for all the long rides, long runs, or the running shoes, tubes, tires, bike crap OR the monthly fees to be in T3/Rogue for this. Yikes...

Have I said how happy I'll be when this is all over with??

Yo, Priscilla. Quit that! You know that you'll get out of this exactly what you put in. If you convince yourself that it's going to be miserable and you're just going to slog through it and hope it's over quickly, you'll be miserable. If you let yourself be open to it, you'll meet new people, you'll get faster in all sports, you'll find yourself having fun despite your best efforts, and you'll be glad you did it. So don't be your own worst enemy.

Love,
your mom

Hey from one of your new teammates :) I can help get you a great deal on a new tribike... know a shop owner who has hooked me and a few friends up well. Let's chat at practice sometime soon... come say hi and I'll fill you in. -Tom B

Thanks mom :) I agree. I'm starting to get excited, just a little overwhelmed with what I have to do and buy to get prepared :) I promise to work on my attitude...
